James Strauss is a world-renowned Brazilian flutist, acclaimed for his extraordinary talent and emotive performances. Hailed as “The Lang Lang of the Flute” and an authentic Latin representative of the French School of Flute, Strauss has achieved global acclaim for his consummate technique and rare sensitivity. As a recording artist for Universal Music Group, he has released a collection of captivating CDs, featuring his virtuoso flute alongside renowned artists. His recordings have received widespread recognition and have been featured on international radio programs, solidifying his reputation as a leading figure in the classical music world.
Among the numerous prestigious awards and accolades he has received throughout his career, one of the most recent is the Goldene Mozartmedaille (MOZARTGEMEINDE WIEN), which Strauss won in 2025 for his recording of the complete works of Mozart for flute. In addition, he received support from the Carl Nielsen og Anne Marie Carl-Nielsen Foundation for the recording of the complete works of Carl Nielsen for flute, also released by Universal Music.
